Super Jordyn

Today, Super Mom Miesha shares the origin story of Super Jordyn. Read on to find out how this hero’s epic resilience led to an incredible team-up of super siblings and a demonstration of all of Super Jordyn’s greatest powers:

“At 20 weeks into the pregnancy, I went in for a routine ultrasound, at which point my doctor said that something looked funny. She then sent me to UMMC fetal maternity clinic. Super Jordyn was diagnosed at that appointment. His diagnoses include a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot, pulmonary atresia, major aortopulmonary collateral arteries (MAPCAs), double outlet right ventricle (DORV), ASD, VSD,  and Digeorge Syndrome.

“Within the first week of his life, Super Jordyn had two surgeries. He had a hernia repair and had a stent placed in his heart in October 2018. Less than a year later, in June, he had his first open heart surgery. A couple days after this surgery, doctors determined that Super Jordyn had a stroke. He was only 8 months old. He was hospitalized for 50 days due to complications. During that time, he started having seizures; he was in heart failure; he stopped breathing on us twice; he contracted a Staph infection; his kidneys took a hit, as well as his liver. He’s always had a hard time recovering surgeries. Each requires weeks of recovery.

“Since Super Jordyn is the youngest of 8, his siblings stress when he is sick or hospitalized. They are very concerned about their brother’s health. Super Jordyn, though, has proven himself a fighter.  He was walking and crawling by 21 months! And despite all the surgeries and all the weeks of hospitalization and recovery, he has been the happiest baby. He’s comforted by his parents and the familiar faces of friends and family. He likes graham crackers, goldfish, Elmo, Mickey Mouse, and Puppy Dog Pals.

“Super Jordyn will possibly need another heart surgery in the future, but we know he will keep up his strength and resilience. He doesn’t let anything stop him!”

Incredible, Super Jordyn! Huge thank you to this hero and his family for sharing their story with us.
