Movement Mission Instructions
Step 1
Read and listen to the book Llamaste and Friends
Step 2
Flip through and practice the yoga poses below, just like Llamaste did with her friends!
All yoga poses can be modified to best suit your body! It isn't about what the pose looks like, but how it feels for you!
Mountain
Stand tall with your feet together or slightly apart, arms by your sides, and imagine you're a strong, steady mountain. Take deep breaths, relax your shoulders, and try to stay still like a mountain, focusing on a spot in front of you.
Warrior
Stand with your feet wide apart, turn one foot out, bend that knee, and stretch your arms out to the sides, parallel to the floor. Imagine you're a brave warrior, looking over your front hand, and keep your body strong and steady.
Tree
Stand tall, place one foot on the inner thigh or calf of the opposite leg, and bring your hands together in front of your chest. Imagine you're a tall, steady tree, focusing on a spot in front of you to help keep your balance.
Downward Dog
Start on your hands and knees, then lift your hips up to form an upside-down "V" shape with your body, keeping your hands and feet on the ground. Imagine you're a playful puppy stretching, with your head between your arms and your heels reaching towards the floor.
Cobra
Lie on your stomach with your hands under your shoulders, then gently push up with your hands to lift your chest off the ground. Imagine you're a friendly snake, looking up and stretching your body, keeping your elbows slightly bent and your hips on the floor.
Forward Bend
Sit with your legs straight in front of you, then reach your arms forward and try to touch your toes while keeping your back as straight as possible. Imagine you're a calm turtle, gently stretching your body forward to rest.
Mermaid Twist
Sit with your legs bent to one side, then twist your upper body gently to the opposite side, placing one hand behind you and the other on your knee for support. Imagine you're a graceful mermaid, looking back over your shoulder with a gentle, flowing twist.
Lotus
Sit with your legs crossed, placing each foot on the opposite thigh, and rest your hands on your knees. Imagine you're a peaceful lotus flower, blooming as you sit tall with a straight back and calm mind.
